Arrivederci!

T minus 7 hours! It's funny, I made this blog to write about my year abroad in Italy but got so excited that I've been posting for weeks already. In any case today is the day! I can't really believe it. I'm flying from JFK at 5:30 tonight, stopping over in Munich, and then to Bari and a final bus ride down to Lecce. I don't know when I'll have wifi again so I wanted to write a quick post saying goodbye.

I flew to New York on Saturday night and my lovely friend Tewa came down from Vassar to spend my last few days with me! We saw Wolverine in 3D, in the front row, I think I blacked out a few times. I felt like I was living in Hugh Jackman's pores.

Sunday we woke up early and headed to Manhattan. We bought a couple of sandwiches and headed to Central Park. We were planning on renting some Citi Bikes, but ended up getting convinced by one of the guys with the laminated signs to follow him to a bike shop one block away from the park where we got some lovely bicycles! These were much nicer than the Citi ones and you didn't have to check them back in every half hour. I was skeptical but let me say this is one of the times that following the slightly sketchy guy really paid off. The company is Sayat bicycles and tons of people rented from them, next time I'll actually flag the guy down instead of avoiding eye contact.

The weather was perfect and I had so much fun! I highly recommend it on a sunny day. After our ride we took the subway down to Times Square, got cupcakes from Crumbs and went to Toys R Us. For lunch we went to our favorite restaurant, Kyo Chon, an incredible Korean wings place on 32nd and 8th. After a quick trip down to Soho to our favorite store Brandy Melville we took the train to Long Island for a delicious goodbye dinner at my aunt's house. Came back to my other aunt's and snuggled up to watch movies until way past midnight.

And today I fly to Italy! It was a great goodbye to the states and some of my favorite people in them. Check back soon for my first post about Italy!
