So Christmas is coming up and I've been having the same conversation with most of my friends- what are you getting people for Christmas and how do we smuggle it through customs? Well if you're not into black market olive oil, I've compiled a list here of ideas (all purchase-able online) and I thought I'd share.
Did someone say mustache shot glasses? I tried making some of these with a Sharpie, but they turned into ugly smudgy messes. Great gift for college kids or tiny hipsters.
A great coffee table book for anyone, based on the popular blog. It's filled with beautiful pictures and little personal stories about living in the city.
For the organizer and list-maker we all know. I purchased one for my trip to Italy and it's even better than a diary- one side of every spread is a weekly planner and the other is a notebook for thoughts, ideas, and lists. Moleskines are a classic you can't go wrong with.
I was dubious about e-readers, being a staunch lover of page turning, but my impulse buy of this baby three years ago was the best decision I ever made. The battery lasts for up to two months, it doesn't hurt your eyes like a computer screen, and you can bring a miniature library with you wherever you go. I've been so grateful for it on more than one 4-hour plane delay or overnight train ride.

Cool leather cover with gold lettering here for $15.00
Yeah... What more can I say?

Fantastic present for anyone, this show is absolutely hilarious and great to pull out for company or watch over and over again on your own. Example here of Schmidt, the most lovable douchebag you'll ever meet.

This morning I tried explaining to my Italian roommate the concept of paying $5 every day for a Starbucks latte. He didn't get it. A few minutes later I was sitting down with my homemade espresso and realizing how insane I must have sounded. Seriously try a moka pot, it will change your life (and save you tons of money and time and mispronunciations of your name).

This is just plain awesome, and there's an even bigger white one!

Who needs Instagram when Polaroid is back?

There's nothing more luxurious than a giant, soft, comfy scarf. Zara does it better than anyone else, I've been wearing mine for over two years now. I love this cozy red but there's tons of other options as well.

Meditate, exercise, lie on your back regretting the cookies you just devoured- this mat can help you do all that and more. Also it's just called The Mat, which sounds pretty badass and important. Obviously I am very passionate about my yoga...

If you've ever seen Cougar Town, or been born a woman, you know the importance of being able to fit an entire bottle of wine in one giant glass. Cheers.
Speaking as someone who has walked down the street using her nose to unlock her iPhone, these would be mighty helpful in the chilly winter months.
Calm down! This helps. Mmmmm.
The best Christmas movie (besides Elf) and one you just have to own. Best thing about this gift is that you can pop it right into the DVD player during the post-gift lull.

This looks so fun, just don't draw too close to the rim...
Awesomely hilarious book for parents. Here's a YouTube video of Samuel L. Jackson reading it.
"Shit it's raining" sounds so much more elegant in French. Huge selection of colors too!
Everyone knows the best part of cupcakes is the frosting and decoration. As an obsessive cupcake-maker myself I would love not having to preheat, line, and wash every time. This makes 7 cupcakes in 4 minutes!
I'll add more as I find it, but these are just some ideas. Let me know what you think! Merry Christmas and happy shopping!
And if all else fails, there's always the Starbucks giftcard
